Troinex, a guide to a residential municipality at the foot of the Salève

Our reading of Troinex: a village in the Geneva countryside at the foot of the Salève, its villas, its access and its family life.

Troinex is one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Geneva, on the Left Bank, in the Geneva countryside. You get there quickly from the city, yet the atmosphere changes within a few minutes. It is a municipality we follow closely, because it meets a specific demand: living in peace, in a country setting, without moving away from the centre.

Living environment

The village has kept its scale. A town hall, a square, a school in the centre, houses lining quiet streets. All around, the countryside takes over: fields, forests and walking trails. The Salève closes off the horizon to the south and serves as a landmark for everyone here. People come to this municipality for space, a garden and closeness to nature, while staying within reach of Geneva. The border is close, which also puts neighbouring France and walks on the Salève a few minutes away.

Access and transport

Troinex is served by the Geneva public transport network, with bus lines running into the city. By car, central Geneva is a short drive away, and the main Left Bank roads remain accessible. The municipality is working on walking, cycling and its traffic plan, with for example a Pédibus (walking bus) for school trips. For a municipality of this size, the balance is reasonable: you depend on the car for some needs, but links to the city exist and work day to day.

Schools and families

This is a family-oriented municipality. It has a primary school in the centre of the village, on the place de la Mairie, part of the Grand-Salève school group. The municipality also runs a municipal crèche, a school canteen and a library. These facilities weigh heavily in the purchase decisions we support: families who settle in Troinex often come for this nearby schooling and for the chance to let children grow up in a calm, green environment.

Architecture and property

Troinex's built fabric is dominated by villas. It is a residential municipality, with detached houses on their own plots, suburban housing areas and an older village core. Recent projects stay within this residential-zone logic, without any break in scale. For a buyer, this means a market of family villas, with properties that change hands rarely and steady demand. For an owner who is selling, it is a sought-after municipality, where the scarcity of available properties works in favour of a well-advised seller. The municipality is also continuing work on its master plan, which is worth following before making a decision.

Our presence in Troinex

We know this municipality through fieldwork. CI-Léman has 22 documented sales in Troinex since 2006, the vast majority of them villas, which reflects the residential nature of the municipality well. This experience helps us value a property as accurately as possible, read the particularities of each plot and advise without overselling. When an owner here calls us, we know what we are talking about: the type of buyer, realistic timelines, the points that make the difference on a country villa.
