NeighbourhoodsVersoix, a guide to a lakeside municipality
Versoix, a Geneva municipality on the Right Bank between Geneva and Vaud: its neighbourhoods, schools, SBB station and lakeshore.

Contents
Versoix is a municipality in the canton of Geneva on the Right Bank of the lake, between the city of Geneva and the Vaud border. It has just over 13'000 inhabitants and is organised around a centre crossed by the river of the same name, a landscaped lakefront and several hamlets spread inland.
Why Versoix?
Versoix mainly attracts families and people who work in Geneva and are looking for a calmer setting by the water. The municipality combines quick rail access to the city centre, nearby public schools and direct access to the lake. The nearby Vaud border also opens onto the Nyon district.
Did you know
The Favarger chocolate factory has been making its chocolate in Versoix since 1875, the year the company left the quai des Bergues in Geneva to settle on the banks of the river Versoix. The firm had been founded in Geneva in 1826, and the move made the municipality the home of its factory, still in operation today.
The neighbourhoods
Versoix can be read as three areas: the lakeshore, the centre and the hamlets. The lakefront includes Port-Choiseul and the Versoix-lac sector, with the marina and the beach. The centre, around Versoix-Bourg and Pont-Céard station, concentrates shops, housing and public facilities. Further out lie hamlets such as Écogia, Richelien, Petit-Saint-Loup and Sauverny, with a more residential, village character.
Which schools are there in Versoix?
Versoix has public primary schools spread across its territory, including Montfleury, Bon-Séjour, Lachenal and Ami-Argand, as well as a cycle d'orientation (lower secondary school) at Les Colombières. For private and international education, the Collège du Léman, on the route de Sauverny, takes pupils from kindergarten to secondary level. The Geneva English School is located on the route de Suisse. The École et Quartier association rounds out this offer with courses and activities open to all ages.
How do you get to Versoix?
Versoix SBB station links the centre of the municipality directly to Geneva and Lausanne on the Lausanne-Geneva line, opened in 1858. It is now served by the Léman Express, with a second stop at Pont-Céard. The route de Suisse runs through the municipality along the lake, connecting it to Geneva to the south and Coppet to the north. TPG bus lines provide local service and links to neighbouring municipalities.
Architecture and property
Versoix's housing stock mixes apartment buildings, concentrated towards the centre and the station, with villa neighbourhoods in the more residential areas and the hamlets. The lakeside and the areas near the stations remain the most sought after. In this market, CI-Léman has documented two sales in Versoix since 2006, among the 575 sales the agency has tracked in the Geneva region over twenty years.
