A wine-growing municipality in the Mandement, on the right bank of the Rhône at the border, between vineyards, a château and the Allondon valley.
Dardagny lies at the western end of the canton of Geneva, on the right bank of the Rhône, at the French border. The municipality is part of the Mandement, the wine-growing region of the Right Bank, and brings together several villages, including Dardagny, La Plaine, Essertines and Malval. Vines shape the landscape and identity of the municipality. The village of Dardagny has kept a remarkably historic character around its château, while the Allondon valley adds a protected natural area of river, forests and meadows. The building stock combines old village houses, wine estates and more recent villas. Detached houses dominate, in a setting where vineyards and protected areas frame the built-up area, which makes plots scarce and transactions infrequent.
The Mandement vineyards, the Château de Dardagny and the old village, the Allondon valley and the banks of the Rhône: the municipality lives to the rhythm of its vineyards, in the west of the canton at the border.
