NeighbourhoodsVeyrier, a guide to a commune at the foot of the Salève
Villas, the Vessy and Pinchat plateaus, the Salève cable car close by: quality of life in Veyrier, as seen by CI-Léman.

Contents
Veyrier occupies the southern corner of the Left Bank, where the canton meets the Salève and the French border. The commune comprises the village of Veyrier, Petit-Veyrier, Sierne and the plateaus of Vessy and Pinchat. People come here for the breathing space the nearby mountain provides, without leaving Geneva. The city centre remains within reach by tram and by car.
Quality of life
The village grew up around its church from the Middle Ages, and this historic core still anchors the commune. Around it, the landscape opens up: villa zones, farmland, and the mass of the Salève closing off the horizon to the south. To the west, the Vessy plateau slopes down towards the Arve. This is where the sports centre stands, on the riverbank, a landmark for many families in the area. Pinchat, further north, forms another quiet residential plateau, facing the upper part of the commune. The presence of water and forest gives Veyrier a density of greenery that is rare so close to the city.
Access and transport
Veyrier is served by several Geneva public transport lines, including line 8, which reaches the heart of Geneva, as well as lines 34 and 41. The Veyrier-École and Veyrier-Douane stops structure the service. The commune is also working on new cycle lanes on the Route de Veyrier, the Route de Vessy and the Chemin de Pinchat. The nearby border crossing opens directly onto France and the Salève cable car, whose lower station is just on the other side. In a few minutes, you go from home to the summit and its trails.
Schools and families
Primary schooling in Veyrier is organised around the commune's schools. For lower secondary school (cycle d'orientation), pupils living in Veyrier generally attend the Florence or Pinchat schools. The planned new Grands Esserts neighbourhood includes an additional school, intended for children from the neighbourhood and the Vessy plateau. Between the sports centre, the green spaces and the proximity of the Salève, Veyrier remains a commune that appeals first and foremost to families looking for space.
Architecture and property
Villas dominate the Veyrier market. The built fabric developed around the old village in large residential zones, with plots that are often generous on the heights and towards Pinchat. You find houses from every decade of Geneva construction as well as recent developments. Apartment areas remain more limited and are concentrated near well-served roads and new development areas, such as Grands Esserts, which is set to change the supply in the coming years. For a buyer, this means a relatively tight villa market and an apartment supply that is renewed in fits and starts. For an owner who is selling, the scarcity of building land works in favour of well-located properties.
Our presence in Veyrier
We know this commune from the inside. CI-Léman has completed 7 documented sales in Veyrier since 2006. It is a measured volume over nearly twenty years, but each of these transactions taught us something specific about the area's expectations: the value of a flat plot, the weight of a south-facing aspect, the way a villa is negotiated. It is this local knowledge that we make available.
If you are considering selling a property in Veyrier, let's talk about it on our sellingpage. If you are looking to settle there, our team follows the local market continuously: see the buyingpage.
