NeighbourhoodsAnières: a guide to a lakeside commune on the Left Bank
Anières, a residential commune on the Left Bank between Corsier and Hermance: quality of life, transport, schools and the market for lakeside villas.

Contents
Anières is a residential commune on the Left Bank of the lake, located between Corsier and Hermance, about ten kilometres from the centre of Geneva. Its territory covers some 3.86 km² and brings together several localities, including Chevrens and Bassy as well as the village of Anières itself. Much of the land remains agricultural, with vineyards and market gardening on the slopes, while housing is concentrated near the shore and on the west-facing hillsides.
Quality of life
The character of Anières lies in this balance between lake and countryside. The strip near the shore gathers villas and a few properties directly on the water, while the village and the upper part of the commune keep their rural atmosphere. Vineyards and market gardens occupy a large share of the territory, which limits density and preserves open views towards Lake Geneva and the Jura. It is a quiet setting, popular with families and with people who want to be close to the city without its density.
Access and transport
Anières is linked to Geneva by the lakeside road, which follows the Left Bank from Cologny and Vésenaz to the border. By public transport, TPG line E serves the commune with several stops (Anières village, Chevrens and the neighbouring hamlets), towards Geneva. The commune also has a CGN landing stage on the lakeshore, chemin du Débarcadère, served seasonally by boats on Lake Geneva. It is worth checking current timetables with TPG and CGN, as these services change from one season to the next.
Schools and families
Anières has a public primary school, part of the cantonal network and located on rue Centrale, which covers the lower and middle primary years. Secondary schooling (the cycle d'orientation) then takes place in schools in neighbouring Left Bank communes, as is customary for this area. Nearby schools and plentiful outdoor space are among the reasons families are drawn to this part of the canton.
Architecture and property
The housing stock in Anières consists overwhelmingly of detached villas, in a variety of types, from village houses to more recent builds on the hillsides. Building land is scarce, as the commune remains largely agricultural and little affected by large construction projects. Properties on the lakeshore or with access to the water form a distinct segment, rare and sought after. This limited supply explains why each transaction takes place in a narrow market, where knowledge of the area and an accurate valuation matter even more than elsewhere.
Our presence in Anières
We count 23 documented sales by CI-Léman in Anières since 2006, mostly villas. This is a significant volume for a commune of this size. These transactions have allowed us to follow the properties in this area for nearly two decades, from village villas to properties near the shore, and to better understand how values are formed there.
