NeighbourhoodsAvully, a guide to a municipality in the Geneva countryside (Champagne)
Guide to Avully, a rural municipality in the Champagne genevoise on the left bank of the Rhône: way of life, transport, schools and property.

Contents
Avully is a rural municipality in the south-west of the canton of Geneva, on the left bank of the Rhône. It belongs to the farming region of the Champagne genevoise, the group of villages that borders the river and forms one of the most rural areas of the canton. This guide brings together what you need to know about the municipality, its way of life and its property market.
Way of life
Avully has around 1'785 inhabitants, known as Avulliotes. The municipality remains overwhelmingly agricultural: nearly 70% of its territory consists of farms and wine estates, over a municipal area of about 459 hectares. The Rhône borders it to the north and west, giving it the character of a plateau's edge, open onto fields and vineyards.
Calm is the rule here. Hamlets such as Epeisses extend the village towards the river, and country lanes link the cultivated plots to the residential areas. For anyone looking for an unhurried pace and open horizons, Avully offers a marked contrast with the city, while remaining within the canton.
Access and transport
Despite its rural character, Avully is connected to the Transports publics genevois network. Several bus lines serve the municipality and its neighbours, notably lines 40, 77 and 78, which provide connections to the rest of the urban area. Line 78 links Chancy to La Plaine station, a useful connection to the Léman Express.
La Plaine station, in the neighbouring municipality of Dardagny, is the access point to the Léman Express for residents of the area. From there, trains run to Geneva and the cross-border region. The municipality also benefits from the tpg flex on-demand bus service, available on weekdays and practical for journeys across this sparsely populated area. Connections to the tram are also available, rounding out the options for those who do not use a car every day.
Schools and families
Avully has its own primary school, which takes children from 1P to 8P. The school, located on Route d'Avully, brings together on a single site the classrooms, a swimming pool and a gymnasium that also serves as a multi-purpose hall. After-school care and a school canteen complete childcare throughout the day.
This compact organisation suits families well: school journeys remain short and the village setting lends itself to a quiet neighbourhood life. The early childhood facility completes the offering for the youngest children.
Architecture and property
Avully's building stock reflects its rural history. There is an old village core, farms and country houses, around which more recent villa areas have developed. The municipality mainly offers detached houses, with a few small apartment buildings. The farmland and vineyards surrounding the village frame its development and limit density.
This profile creates a market where family homes play an important role, in a preserved environment. Buyers often come here for space and the calm of a garden, while keeping a link with Geneva through public transport.
Our presence in Avully
We have followed this market for a long time. We count 8 sales documented by CI-Léman in Avully since 2006: 1 villa, 6 apartments and 1 other property. This field experience helps us position a property correctly in a municipality where transactions are less frequent than in the city, and where each sale deserves a precise reading of the local context.
